The article titled Why We Love to Hate HR… and What HR Can Do About It, by Peter Cappelliis is about how the Human Resources (HR) department is viewed by different people. It shows us how executives and managers have seen the Human Resources department across time. We see how executives see HR as a necessary department when the economy is flourishing and at great standing, and how the department is viewed as a waste of time and money when the economy is going downhill. This statement from the article, “Usually when companies are struggling with labor issues, HR is seen as a valued leadership partner,” shows us the main idea behind the article. When business operations are going great, managers tend to think that the HR department is a waste of time and money. This article made me worried about my future as a human resource employee, because we are sometimes undervalued by the executives or seen as a burden; the economy is a major factor with these attitudes. I hate the fact that HR will suffer if the economy is doing horrible. In these times HR is seen as the department that is annoying the corporation with policies, regulations and rules. When the economy is thriving it is at this time that the company values HR; companies find it hard to keep workers when the labor force has more option to seek better opportunities.
