Why We Hate HR Article Analysis

In Keith Hammonds article “Why We Hate HR” he discusses many of the perceived shortcoming of human resource departments within modern corporations. Throughout out the article there seemed to be a consistent disconnect to what everyone thought a successful HR department should be, this included experts, employees, to top level management. The question comes down to what role the management should play in the direction of HR. In my opinion, from everything that I was able to ascertain from Hammonds article, it seems that there is a huge barrier between what Human Resource personnel believe their jobs entail, and what the management expects from them. At the same time, some management seem unaware of what it takes to have a solid HR department that works towards the larger business goals. The idea of HR being business focused seems to be running at a cross path to what they have historically been taught how to perform their duties. In the article it described how an HR manager reporting to the Chief Financial Officer was a red flag to how an HR department should not be ran. This makes me suspect that this isn’t just an issue that can be slapped on the backs of the HR departments. This speaks to larger deeper, concerns. In the world of out sourcing …show more content…
I feel there are some great opportunities to teach graduates the proper KSA’s needed to link HR to the business side of things. What was lacking before was HR in my experience has always been a place of dread for employees, like many of the people said they felt disconnected with the companies they worked for. They felt as if they had no room for advancement, that the company had no interest in their wellbeing. I can understand and sympathize with those feeling, yet I feel we have a great opportunity to discuss how to change all of
