Should Minors be punished for Bullying? “Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life, but define yourself (Time Fields).” Every day that passes someone is getting bullied, either mentally or physically. Not a day goes by that one does not hear that there has been an incident at school between students. Along with staff of the school wondering the best way to resolve the issue. While bullying is a major concern in schools, it can affect anyone at any age. To some, bullying may just be a minor issue, but for others it is a serious problem. In addition, bullying can lead to suicidal thoughts, depression and even suicide. These actions need to be taken seriously and more responsibly because minors should be punished for their actions. …show more content…
Bullying is an issue and there is no excuse to treat others poorly. According to Los Angeles Time article “Is Bullying a Crime?” they say that students who are mean to their peers should not get away with it. They recommend hiring a trained civilian intervention officer to visit both families in cases of serious bullying. These officers would “advise victims of their rights under existing laws and to try to mediate agreements and change behaviors (“Is Bullying a Crime?”).” On the other hand, some people disagree with disciplining students for their behavior because they are too young to know “one plus one equals two.” In addition, schools should not suspend students because they bully. They need to know why they are suspended and why this is an issue. Some students see a school suspension as a get away from
