Like Yvette Cooper, I believe that police budget cuts would backfire on us. The cuts may be beneficial in the short run, cutting government spending instantly but it would have a drastic impact on crime rates and society in the future. …show more content…
Cutting police budgets would eventually lead to a loss of jobs, meaning ‘fewer police officers on the street’. Less police officers would give offenders the confidence and means to carry out a crime, with the hopes and chances of not getting caught. Police departments and citizens have reported changes in law enforcement services. This includes not reporting and responding to petty/minor crimes - burglar alarms, property break-in’s, vehicle accidents and so on.
