Just in 2016 alone, The U.S. saw 135 police officers died in the line of duty in 2016, which is the highest number of fatalities on the job in five years, according to statistics. This year the number is 957 people, this is slightly from the 991 people killed by police in 2015, but it is still a very large number. This unnecessary loss of live is unacceptable and must be delt with immediately before any further damage can be done to the families of the police officers and the families of the victim of these police shootings. The officers will get to know the people that they patrol around every day thus making the community feel like they actually know the police officer and the public will feel more comfortable to give the police information about crimes that were committed in the community.
