To begin with according to the 1st amendment citizens are allowed to protest peacefully without the police intervening. However that 's not what happened during the Ferguson case. Michael Brown a young African American who was shot by a white police officer on august 9, On November 24, 2014 the jury decided not to bring criminal charges against the officer Darren Wilson. This decision sparked movement not only in Ferguson, but all across the country. In major cities people started protesting (Kiencherf). The police response during the Ferguson protest was heavily armed. On August 11, 2014 during a protest the SWAT team occupied the streets wearing military camouflage trousers, combat boots, helmets, gas mask, body armor which all were identical to those worn by the United States marines. Also they carried the m4 carbines which are normally used by the military with advanced combat optical gunsights. Furthermore, they had up to 6 magazines on their vests. Many veterans noted and stated that those cops appeared better armed and outfitted then GI’s in war zone (Endebak). This was an incident that was out in the public. Guerena was a 26 year old former U.S marine who served in Iraq. Guerena was suspected of being part of a drug dealing operation (he was not involved). He was shot to death by Pima County Sheriff SWAT officers (Endebak). It was on May 5, 2011 around 9:30am that his wife became nervous when hearing strange sounds and spotting the police force standing outside of her window. She woke her husband up. That’s when Guerena asked his wife to hide in a closet with their 4 year old son. Guerena picked up his rifle with the safety on and went to investigate. The SWAT team fired 71 shots, 22 of which entered his body fatally killing him. This innocent man was shot to death at his own house fronts of his family and his 4 year old child. Within Few minutes he lay dead in his own home without even firing first. Later it was it was discovered that he had no narcotics in his house (Rizer and Hartman). The officers went even further by pointing their guns at Guerena 's wife and 4-year-old son. Despite the fact that dozens of neighbors testified that the officers never knocked or identified themselves when they entered the house, the SWAT team was cleared of any wrongdoing and never apologized to Guerena 's family.
