The people of the United States are not getting the full privacy promised in the constitution. People such as Edward Snowden and Phil Zimmerman have uncovered government lies about the ongoing spy networks. We spend a majority of our lives on the internet, and have too much valuable information on there to leave it unprotected. The third party companies such as Apple are also part of the risk due to all the unregulated information we give them. With all the advances into how our cyber community operates the government has a Foreign Intelligence Agency that tracks and stores any valuable data to counter terrorism before it starts. It is part of the FBI’s job to survey any online messaging that could be leaked to terrorism. However it can be hard to look through anyone’s information, good or bad, if you hit all of the roadblocks stopping your progress.In earlier years when the FBI had probable cause to look through a phone,“The FBI demanded that Apple do more than provide technical assistance when extracting information from phones”(Litt). This information could have helped find the motives behind the attack, or find a bigger network of terrorist to stop.Not only is it the jobs of many men and women to protect our country from acts of terrorism, but they are tasked with doing it without digging into lives that are innocent.Yes the government should not be looking through your suggested playlist to find songs, but they should have enough access to keep America safe.
The American people deserve the protected privacy entitled to them through the constitution.Many of people have fought for the protection of privacy, granting it to us through the constitution. However, like all things human, nothing is perfect, Edward Snowden sent out information that the government was hiding from us, and we had changed the ways of intelligence gathering to combat that.The people of the United States have fought long and hard to get the freedom they deserve, and the government
