Why College Is Important Essay

College has always been one of the most important things I’ve wanted to accomplish. As no one in my family has previously gone off to college, I have taken it upon myself to get to this point. Most people already know the importance of having a college degree; It opens doors for new opportunities that benefit more than just yourself. Typically, people with college degrees earn way more money than those who solely have a high school diploma. Even jobs nowadays are requiring a higher education level than a high school diploma. College also teaches valuable work skills that are necessary in today’s jobs fields. These people are the ones who strive to get ahead; Not all of them were 4.0 students at first, maybe not at all, but they kept striving even through college, with a debt to pay after, to get to this point in their lives. This is a point I want to reach as well; I may not be a 4.0 student but I believe that I have the mindset, skills and intelligence to reach this. Though the college debt may scare some individuals, the financial aid each year is increasing for those who need it. We may not all get scholarships, but at the end of the day just going to college and getting through all of these obstacles will mean all the while in the end. I am a sophomore in high school, so that means I should at least begin to wonder and start to think about which colleges I want to apply for. I know, all of them won’t accept me but the ones that do will see a student willing to do anything to become successful.
