Katniss is brave because she does something to help her family even though it is very dangerous for her to do it. People in the districts are not allowed to leave the fenced in areas and venture off into the woods. Katniss goes into the woods almost every day to gather berries and meat for her family.
Katniss is kind because most of the other competitors in The Hunger Games would have killed Rue because she would be an easy kill but Katniss does not. In The Hunger Games, it is easier to survive if there are less people because you have less people trying to find you. But Katniss doesn’t kill her because Katniss is nice and doesn’t really want to hurt anyone.
