Don 't Be Colorblind We desired to believe that the color of our skin doesn 't affect the potential outcomes. The concept of the American Dream provides a driven motivation for everyone. We are sugar coated with beliefs that through inspirations a person’s opportunity is meant to shine through hard work. However, the concept of success is a lot more complex when other attributes, such as race can easily influenced negative outcomes for job opportunities. But, how does race or ethnicity play a role in one’s opportunities for success? An ideal of a perfect concept is to believe that race or ethnicity of a person does not impact their job opportunities in the United States, but this seemingly simple belief cannot be proven to be true.
No one can argue that society in the United States has a system of an existing social status and beliefs. One of which, we take pride on the American Dream defined to be “a happy way of living that is thought of by many Americans as something that can be achieved by anyone in the U.S. especially by working hard and becoming successful.” (Webster) Specifically the “anyone” in this statement is taken out of context when reality has shown many additional factors someone needs besides determination. One being from their race or ethnic background, people are still categorized either in the majorities or minorities. Even before minorities can have access to the already delusional American Dream belief, they do not even get a chance to prove their hard…
