These authors stand middle ground but decided the system does stray towards people of color on certain occasions. For example, laws that violate the fourteenth amendment. Such as the Federal Cocaine Laws, that states that a certain amount of crack-cocaine is about 100 times as much of powder cocaine. Nonetheless, African-Americans are statistically more likely to get stopped for crack-cocaine and Caucasians are statistically more likely to get stopped for powder cocaine. Intentionally, laws are more harsh on crack-cocaine users than powder cocaine users. However, these authors wrote a well-balanced book that stated evidence using patterns of behaviors, victimization, police practices and other programs. Using these methods they put themselves on the middle ground to let the readers decides if the Criminal Justice System is bias among people of color.
