In addition, whites will ultimately have the power to ignore how racism effects people of color, and have unlikely experienced difficulties due to their race. In fact, they have the opportunity to rationalize the present social order, and feel more at ease with their relatively privileged social standing in American society. Unlike Whites, minorities have and will encounter disadvantages because of their race and experience colorblindness rather differently than the dominate race. According to Johnson & Rhodes (2010), the structural functionalist perspective, explains that “…racist ideologies provide a moral justification for maintaining a society that routinely deprives certain groups of their rights…” (p. 127). The colorblind ideology only denies people of color their cultural accustoms, diverse viewpoints, and past experiences whether negative or positive. Furthermore, having the ability to ignore race can only become possible for individuals whose race is not consistently made aware of. By accepting that we live in an equal and justice society, this creates a false representation that we have fully achieved social democracy, rather than accepting that it is a continuous effort. Nonetheless, exposing the false ideologies of race is detrimental towards the fight against racism and race related problems. In addition, it is imperative to not assume that by ignoring racial ideologies will ultimately erase the presence of
