There are many different criteria to look for in a reliable website including appearance, organization, and credibility. The website I evaluated for my topic of choice was WashingtonPost.com. The website provides instant news and information of various topics from all over the world in an organized, user-friendly fashion. After browsing the website, I was able to conclude that WashingtonPost.com is an effective website due to the fact that it is able to provide news and information through a well-organized and simple way, all while maintaining a sense of professionalism. The homepage on the website was very clean cut and professional. The way the website presented itself with the black and white color scheme provided a sense of professionalism right away. Also, the website used a font which was very clean and easy to read, which helped create consistency to their professional style. While maintaining a sense of professionalism, the website also made it more visually appealing by providing attention-grabbing photos to their homepage and respective articles. Overall, the website made a great first impression due to its clean and professional style. The reason why this is so important to consider when evaluating a website is that the style and presentation of a website makes a big difference in how reputable it is.
