The party that I chose to evaluate was the Illinois Green Party. I chose to evaluate this website because I wanted to see how a 3rd party would match up to the Democratic and Republican pages. At first glance, the page does seem to be a little outdated, however it was much better than I anticipated. Because the Green Party is a lesser known party, I expected a late 90s themed website that was hard to navigate. On the homepage there were links for people to get involved with the party, as well as places to donate. To compare this website I also looked at the Democrat and Republican pages. To be honest, the Republican page was probably the most appealing and user friendly out of all of the pages. The Republican party website seemed to be the most modern “looking” website. The Green party website did have information that would satisfy me as a constituent, however it would not convince me as an outsider. …show more content…
First off, I would change the way the website is laid out. The website felt a little outdated, due to some of the colors and the lay out. Another thing that I would change about this website was the organization. The Green Party website felt a little out of place. There were links at the top with helpful information, however the main page of the website was dedicated to news articles. This may seem helpful, however I personally would have liked to see information about the party placed here. I believe that one reason why the Green Party’s website might lag behind the main parties is the lack of support. The main two parties have much more funding compared to the Green Party. I wanted to check to see if my hypothesis was true so I looked at the Illinois Libertarian website. While this website did have the essential information (contact, donate, about), the website looked very bad. This website looked worse than the Green Party’s
