The hues in this art piece are mostly dark and cool, from the flat background to the table and most of the objects. The bright colors are arranged in the diagonal from the upper left to the lower right. On the left there is a flowers bouquet in a metal vase. There is a small metal container with an open lid containing ink and a dark feather. In the middle of the photo, there is a skull on a closed book, a couple dice in front of the book and a big crow landing on the skull. In the back, there is a dead-candle and a glass. On the right, there is an hourglass, metal medal in pearl and half a pomegranate with some piled pomegranate seeds in front of it. Overlapping the objects representing what still life looks like.

Artists use different objects to clarify the reality of the vanitas message. The art of death is a precautions and warnings that we shouldn’t be worried about richness, money and the things we own since we can’t take them with us after death. Bonavia is expressing a concept of life and death in the photo. His still life has depicted number of symbols that have meanings such as skull, flowers to emphasize the fact that life is short, and death is coming, and he added the crow to refer to that fact. Bonavia has used the elements in a nice way which created a successful piece. His choice of colors is calming yet depressing at the same time. And it added depth to the photo. He placed the skull facing the light as if the skull is looking to the future or the bright

It has been seen as a means of decoration, used to honor the dead and sometimes created to represent religious figures. Another popular use of art is military propaganda. Time immemorial, powerful leaders have found art to be an effective way to communicate their military superiority, as observed in the carvings of the Narmer’s palette and stele of Naram Sin.…

Once again we see the use of a vanitas. Like mentioned before with Jan Van Kessel’s vanitas painting, most artists had vanitas in their repertoire. Pieter Claesz shows us his version of a lamentation of the transience of all things in 1630. He has used the skull, showing the brevity of life and reminding us that soon we will all be the same. On the table he has placed an open pocket watch, much like Van Kessel with his use of the hourglass.…

The title of my gallery exhibit is called “Windows To The Soul.” As a child, I had to grow up far behind my years and I have to learn to mask what was going on the inside by decorating what was the outside. I became aware that one feature about yourself that you cannot mask is one’s eyes. Throughout my life, I have always been told that our eyes are the windows to the soul. Through our eyes is truly where our truth lies, truly where you will find the emotions that our looks will hide.…

They are too small beyond recognition, so viewers can just make out a figure. Some artworks that impressionists in the 19th century created share some commonalities with this painting. Impressionists depicted the nature with phenomenology excluding political, social, historical thought. They just focused on nature itself, so people are usually cropped or are represented by blurry silhouettes. The big difference from impressionism and the distinct feature of this painting is that what the artist wants to deliver is small philosophy, which is harmony between humanity and nature.…

Dallas Museum of Art In my opinion, the overall structure of the Dallas Museum of Art offers numerous places for guests to admire different forms of art within contiguous spaces. I find these vantage points to be the museum’s most unexpected properties and my recommended route passes three of them. I had the luxury of spending my afternoon at the Dallas Museum of Art over the weekend, and I spent quite a while moving slowly around the William Wetmore Story marble sculpture of Semiramis. She is a stunning work, engraved out of a single block of marble, and as I moved around her, I thought to myself, “Great art is a wonderful reason to believe in God.”…

This piece of art that I have researched, will be writing about, and comparing to other pieces of art is the Jain Shrine. The country of origin that these shrines come from is India. Unfortunately we do not know of the artist that created any of the Jain Shrine’s in particular that are still preserved today. It is suggested that more than likely a wealthy individual from northwest India would have had this small shrine created for his own private Jainism religion purposes. Jainism is a religion of India which is older and was firmly established at the same time of the origin of Buddhism (Jain).…
