I mean specifically OLTP because in that kind of application, the end user is focused on creating, reading, updating, and deleting records. I think PNC would benefit from this type of database because they need to update manipulate and create customers personal account information, and transactional information/account history on a daily basis.
When starting a database design the first thing to contemplate is the nature of the application that is being designed, is it Transactional or Analytical. Secondly it is important to consider is the purpose of the database and how it affects the design. A database should be built to fit the purpose of the business. A third thing to ponder is that it is essential to have database normalization
