1. There are different ways Macy’s management can use information systems to implement the new strategies to improve sales and tailor the merchandise to the local consumer. By implementing new technologies like their new system (RFID) radio frequency identification Macy’s will be able to improve the inventory accuracy. This system was able to increase sales, gross margins and price drops by decreasing inventory counts with the instantaneous and precise software used in the RDIF system. By using this system they are able to tell when the items are starting to decrease in sales and they are able to remove the items and replace them with the new clothing line. The management information system should collect data that includes the consumer’s age and location Macy’s will be able to keep up with the current fashion available in the market. Some of the other information Macy’s needs to collect about the customers should include how often the individual visits the store, what day, month and even the season of the year they visit the store. Once the consumer is in the store Macy’s will be able to ensure the items will be in stock and in the proper location by using RFID. The (RFID) radio frequency identification system Macy’s is implementing is able to check the amount of items in inventory. This system is also able to confirm that the proper styles and sizes of the items are in their proper location of the selling floor and that they are properly presented for sale. This information can help them decide when certain items are trending and they can decide how many of these items to purchase. The system should include what types of items and how often they purchase them. How much the consumer is willing to pay for the items and even what type of payment system the consumer would use to pay for the items in the Macy’s Inc. location. The system should include the inventory of all the local locations in case a customer is interested in an item that might be out of stock in the location they are currently visiting. The consumer should also be able to search for themselves if an item is in stock at the location. With the management information system collecting this information the company will be able to adapt to the systems outputs to help improve the items for sale in the local area. This will help the stores to keep the proper amount of items in the store or the ability to get the item quickly. The amount of inventory being marked down will decrease with the RFID system and save the company
