Modern society is characterized by dynamic and sophisticated changes in terrorism activities. As a result, terror cells such as al-Qa’ida are a major threat among policymakers, intelligence agencies, and multinational firms in the United States. The U.S. government is continuously formulating policies of gathering intelligence against terror groups. For instance, the U.S. has formulated the Counter Intelligence Centre (CIC) to facilitate the monitoring and intelligence collection against this threat. The information the CIC gathers forms a crucial reference point during the formulation of significant security decisions. Therefore, an analysis of al-Qa’ida will enable policy and decision makers to formulate effective policies on handling potential terrorist attacks. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), al-Qa’ida is one of the major Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIE), which are organizations that seeks to gather confidential information about the U.S. and potentially disrupt the country’s social systems. To date, al-Qa’ida is the only terror organization to have successfully conducted an attack on American soil.
