Though, because of the spread of diseases, it caused a tension. Some cities/countries thought that the disease was started from another country, while that country though it was another country. This caused tension and eventually led to these cities/countries to work independent. Long-distance trade contributed to the expansion of empires by that it helped empires to become more powerful, stronger and richer. These were the essentials for a growing empire. Though, this long-distance trade did cause the “fall” of empires by that since diseases were spreaded it sadly caused population loss. The Umayyad empire only lasted for about 750 years. When the Umayyads ruled, it was the best years that occurred in the religion of Islam. Since the Islamic religion was improved, million of people were converted to the Islamic religion. Some strategies that the Caliphate used was to maintain order and stability by that they made sure that the empire was benefiting and providing the necessities of the people. They had excellent trade business with China and they were flourishing with goods which benefited the people and kept them happy and satisfied. Also, these strategies are similar to those implemented by the rulers of Classical empires because once villages/cities were conquered, the rulers would have to always give the people “gifts” so that it would decrease the chances of rebellions.
