Many people tend to associate the american dream with materials when in fact it is our pursuit of happiness. Evidently you need material things to pursue happiness but at a certain point though one just materialistic; that point is becoming blurred to American children. Ironically the only un-materialistic component of the American dream today is the parenthood component. It seems as though at one point the American dream got lost in translation from being a happy family to a house, car, and etc. inflated by our childhood idea that success is more objects. Some expectations include house size, cars, and objectify women as trophy wives. Perhaps your parents have a nice one-story house but they buy you a three story doll house to play with. Ones father owns a Honda Civic yet the child has a toy Porsche. Examples as such make children lose touch of what makes
