SAFETY MEETINGS
1.0 Purpose
1.1 The purpose of this policy is to communicate the requirements for safety meetings.
2.0 Weekly Toolbox Safety Meeting
2.1 All General Pipe supervisors are required to conduct a Toolbox Safety Meeting at least once a week. A designated time should be set so that all meetings are scheduled for the same day of the week and the same time of day. The Toolbox Talk sheet must be signed by everyone at- tending the meeting and forwarded to General Pipe’s payroll department. A copy of the sheet should be kept at the jobsite if needed.
2.2 Supervisors will have safety material and information from General Pipe’s office available for use.

2.0 General Requirements
2.1 Employees under the influence of drugs or alcohol on the job pose unacceptable risks for the safety and health of personnel on site and employees are required, as a condition of employment, to abide by General Pipe’s Substance Abuse Policy and steps taken by General Pipe to implement it. Substance Abuse testing will be done under the following conditions:
2.1.1 Pre-employment – BEFORE BEGINNING WORK, employees must show evidence of having had a negative drug screen within the twelve months prior to being hired. (The twelve month period may be shortened if required by a customer)
2.1.2 Periodic Drug Testing – annual testing is required
2.1.3 Post-accident - Any workplace injury or illness requiring leaving the site for treatment will require both drug and alcohol testing. Accidents involving property damage may be subject to testing at General Pipe’s discretion.
2.1.4 Reasonable Cause – testing of this kind occurs when work place behavior indicates that an employee may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Reasonable cause may also be used as part of a search and inspection of an employee’s work area or …show more content…
