Work setting and population. This model is designed for combat war veterans ages twenty-five to thirty-five who have returned from active duty within the last year. The veteran in this study will be referred by the local VA hospital after spending a period in the inpatient treatment facility being treated for Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The veteran will present to an outpatient facility for one-on-one treatment for this therapy.
PTSD can be different for every individual who is affected by it. For this model, the veteran was exposed to some traumatic event while in combat. Strategies. This treatment plan will take place over the course of twelve weeks with one scheduled 60-minute session a week. The veteran will be able to add additional sessions as needed through the course of their treatment. After the initial session, the client will be provided with a journal in order to document their symptoms and any other thoughts or feelings that come to mind that can be important to identify in their weekly sessions. The veteran was provided with the veterans’ crisis line for any additional support they may need throughout the week. The treatment will take place in twelve consecutive weeks in an outpatient treatment facility. The veteran will be working one on one with the counselor during their sessions. After the first six sessions, the veteran will have the opportunity to include family members and love ones into their sessions at their own discretion.
