Moreover, equality is something that everyone wants and needs and violence is a massive issue that affects this particular group the most. Growing up I never witnessed physical abuse in my home, however, during heated arguments my parents were equally verbally abusive to one another. In the Hispanic culture, it is “normal” for the man to play the dominant role while the wife remains submissive to make her husband happy; he should be the sole provider in the household. This ideology is similar to most traditional views; however , in today 's society changes have occurred within the household in which women are not restricted to the submissive role. On the contrary, most households have women as the sole providers or they share this responsibility with their significant other. Also, women have become more independent, which may have been frowned upon in the past but is currently praise-worthy and admired. The NASW 's policies outlines on key issues as they relate to the prevention and elimination of abuse endured by women while the IFSW focuses on the bigger picture of human rights and equality for all. The NASW addresses the various service and support that is provided for battered women and girls. The IFSW supports human rights for all and equality that is encouraged to be amongst all humans, including women; women
