Sickle Cell Disease is a blood disorder that’s inherited and affects almost 100,00 folks in the United States . Red blood cells contain hemoglobin which is a protein that carries oxygen in the blood . Normal red blood cells are flexible and round which allows body . The sickle cell disease causes red blood cells to form a cresent shaped red blood cells to break away easily causing anemia . Instead of the normal 120 days the sickle red blood cells live 10 -20 days . The damaged sickle red blood cells stick to the walls of blood vessels ,clump together and blocks blood flow . They can cause permanent damage to the bones ,kidneys ,lungs , liver ,heart , brain , and spleen which leads to severe pain . Severe pain is called an acute Sicke Cell Crisis and is a serious emergency . Common triggers are infections and dehydratioin but a person may not know what brought on the pain . The Sickle Cell Disease is more common in African- Americans and Africans .
Its found in racial group and other ethnics also including folks Central America , the Caribbean , India , and the Mediterranean countries .
The cause for Sickle Cell Disease is by genetic abnormality in the hemoglobin genes , and the results in the production of sickle hemoglobin .When oxygen is released from sickle hemoglobin it will stick…
