Secondary prevention will help to decrease medical expenses, and save money. Providing outreach programs in high risk community to educate, provide support, and provide counseling for affected individuals, who may not have the appropriate resources to go to a doctor. By increasing support in high risk communities, individuals would be less reluctant to seek information about their health status, and become more active in their health. By educating parents of children who have sickle cell disease about preventing complication that can lead to hospitalization of their child, children will be less likely to miss school due to a Sickle Cell crisis. Information that is given in an easy to understand format will also empower the parents to be active in their child’s health, which will decrease hospitalization due to preventable Sickle Cell complications, and reduced medical
