He Lived, He Died, and He Lives Again
With Life Comes Pain
Late one night, to my horror, the most exuberant girl in the hall collapsed limply on her friend’s shoulder as she cried hysterically. All she could say was, “My brother is dead. My brother is gone.” At this moment, I had to stop and think. I was forced to remember that God gives us trials because He loves us. Heavenly Father has a plan for every single one of His children. He provided a way for comfort to be felt and for the ability that we will see this wonderful man again. In the earlier years of the world, our Father in Heaven provided this way through the loving sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. This sacrifice is called the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
The Perfect Sacrifice
According to Romans 6:23, Adam’s transgression would have caused man to forever be separated from God. There needed to be a way to overcome death; a way that could only come about through the “vicarious sacrifice of one who was sinless and who could therefore take upon Himself the sins of all mankind” (Ballard). Blessedly, Jesus Christ courageously sacrificed and created this way for all people. Not only is Jesus Christ a solution to Adam’s transgression, but He is the only solution to Adam’s transgression. No one else could have successfully performed the Atonement. I am forever grateful for the anguish that Jesus Christ suffered in order to allow me and everyone else to live with Him again.
