Dear Diary, it is me, Norah. I am writing this on March 12, 1964. On March 7, I gave birth to my two children Paul and Phoebe. I am heartbroken to say that Phoebe passed away at birth. I will never forget David’s words, “I am so sorry. Our little daughter died as she was born” (Edwards 20). When I found out Phoebe died I was extremely mournful. A pungent pain arose through my body. The day I got to go home from the clinic I plodded my way to my car with Paul being held snuggly to my chest. I had to assent with the fact that my daughter was dead.
