The relation between socio-economic factors and good health has been observed over a few decades and fact that the socio –economic factors have a massive impact on the health of the individual is not new. Today, the UK Government provides a range of health campaigns to alert the public to live healthier. Health promotions in schools, children centres, community centres or in the hospital taking place. For example,” the fit for life campaign, “where the main focus is to eat healthy food. However, there are still barriers which have an influence on the behaviour of the individual and how they take part in health promotions. Therefore, it is important to have a look at the background of the individual to understand their behaviour.

Unskilled jobs can reduce the average life expectancy as well as poor housing and lifestyle choice. Another impact of socio –economic influences on health can be cultural tradition. For example, some ethnic groups, living in the UK, are overweight, seeing this as something positive as this shows the social status in their society. Skinny people would be associated with poorness, Holland (2015).This behaviour is completely the opposite what health campaigns promote, to reduce obesity in the UK. It is worth thinking about how those people can be persuaded to change their attitude, as weight is associated with their social status and cultural tradition.
