Lately I have been doing a lot of thinking, about life, and how someone might defined the overall quality, of his /her life. “ Quality of life”, is different to everyone, no two people will define it the same way nor will it be explained in the same manner. Since there are differences of opinion as to what “quality of life” actually is a working definition for this paper should be established. Therefore the definition I will be working with will be as follows it is a very complex multidimensional concept consisting of a personal evaluation process. The multidimensional process is life satisfactions; positive and negative, health; psychological well-being and social well-being, and both aspects together.
I will be focusing my paper on the “Quality of life” as to how it especially effects and pertains to the elderly over time by disease, disability or disorders.
It is natural that all of us will eventually have our life end, however we all want to live as long as possible, not becoming a burden to our families or someone else. Since we will all have life changing situations that will alter our ability to enjoy life to the fullest, our quality of life as we may know it will decline. At this point we may have had health issues, which cause the decline or be physically close to death, in these instances we may feel helpless, be in pain, and have mental or physical deterioration.
