The push for concealed gun on campuses is a pretty big topic in today’s modern era. Students in some states are allowed to carry a concealed gun around school. Most people who choose to carry a concealed gun are allowed to carry a concealed gun on campus. In the United States it is illegal in all states except for 8 states that allow students to carry a concealed gun on campus. For many years now, the push for concealed guns on campuses has been a debated topic of who believes in it and who does not. We ask ourselves what the best method for are college campus, and what will make the college students safer on campus (“Concealed Guns.”) Students should be allowed to carry a loaded firearm on college campuses. The biggest reason being is most gun free zones are the biggest target to be attacked. Time and time again, we hear of mass shootings that take place around our country. What we do not hear is the fact that most of these shooting happens in gun free zones. Most criminals do no follow laws, and a sign that states a college campus has a sign stating “No Guns Allowed” will make the suspect more likely to attack them since they are not armed (“Concealed Guns.”) A study shows that crimes increases at a college campus where guns are banned on that campus. Facts have shown that those state’s that had adopted an issue to carry a concealed gun that a dec rease in violent crime has occurred. Almost all concealed carry permit holders are law abiding citizens and have had extensive training in regards to carry a firearm. In my opinion, I think it would be ok if college students carried a concealed gun on campus as long as they were over the age of 21. However, I do agree with them carrying it at school, but they need to go to extensive training to better their skills with the gun. States should require a basic understanding of a handgun, proper shooting techniques for a handgun, and an actual fire test in order to obtain the permit to carry. I also believe after so many years you should have to repeat the course in order to renew your permit (“Concealed Guns.”) How are we supposed to protect ourselves from those gunmen such as the shootings that went on at Virginia Tech, or Sandy Hook in Connecticut. Are we supposed to just sit there in the classroom and wait for a college campus security guard to come to the rescue. This is why we should be allowed to carry a concealed firearm on campus and protect ourselves from the psychopaths who are trying to harm others. College students should have the right to protect themselves. Violent criminals will always have guns. Rather than us being the victim if we carry concealed handguns we are at risk to be a lot safer. 59% of People who carry a concealed handgun feel safer carrying it.” Gary …show more content…
“Goddard believed if students had been armed to the teeth the day I was shot, it’s very likely more students and others would have been injured or killed in the crossfire.” (“Guns on Campus”). The only problem that may occur during this is the police would have had a hard time figuring out who the bad guy is. However, as gun-control advocates emphasize that mass campus shootings are rare events, but when someone is determined to hurt someone. He supports the fact of what they are trying to prove to make college students safer by allowing them to have a concealed gun on campus. Bentham thoughts are anyone who goes through the extensive training should be allowed to carry a concealed gun on campus. However, Bentham’s views were, when faced with an ethical dilemma, you should decide what is morally right and make the best decision on it. In my opinion, I would agree with Bentham. We as a country should allow college students to carry a concealed gun on college campus. I am a firm believer that if someone’s life is in danger we should act by helping them by having students carry firearms with the proper training and extensive background checks (“Guns on

In her opinion piece, Zenobia Harris shows the potential unintended consequences of carrying a firearm on campus. She provides solid statistics from notable organizations such as the RAND Corporation and CNN and a refuting argument from a state legislator. She ends her argument stating that protection of students should be left to the police on campus, and that students should find other means of protection other than firearms. The potential negative outcomes really do seem to outweigh the positive aspects of carrying a firearm on…

Going to college is such an overwhelming time for any student, traditional or non-traditional. You should have a sense of security when you go to school. However, in today’s age, this is not a guarantee due to the unpredictable nature of some individuals. With that being said, sitting next to someone possibly carrying a concealed weapon is not a comforting thought either. While a handgun could end an active shooting situation, the conceal carry permit should be prohibited on college campuses and universities because students lack sufficient training on how to handle and shoot a gun and do not always have a sound mindset making it unsafe for all.…

Guns are not going away, that just is not possible; therefore, we must arm those who are capable, realize that complete gun control will not stop the mass shootings, and allow concealed carry on college campuses. Every American citizen holds the right to protect themselves as well as holds the right to bear arms and therefore should be able to act on that right. College campuses are not safe, and though there are public safety officers, most of the time they are in their cars and would not be able to arrive in time to do something; however, someone in that classroom who has a concealed carry permit and brought their gun might just be able to stop some people from being killed should he or she choose to act accordingly. It is the right of the American citizen to protect themselves with a weapon should he or she choose to do so and the government should not threaten to take that away, nor even attempt to take away one of our rights which was given two hundred and twenty five years…
