President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001 The USA PATRIOT Act. The title of the Act is a letter acronym: Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (PUBLIC LAW 107–56—OCT. 26, 2001) This Act was written to prevent and punish terrorist acts here in the United States as well as around the world, to help law officers, and to strengthen U.S. measures. Sometimes it violates the Fourth Amendment which is to protect us from unreasonable searches and seizures and removing of personal belongings without probable cause. This also goes back to the racial profiling, as most of these are done to Muslim Americans or Americans of Middle Eastern Decent. Before the Patriot Act a court order was needed to put surveillance on a suspect’s phone. Now law enforcement does not need that. It is only logical that what is used to help fight criminals such as drug dealers should be used to help keep the people from harm. Some great things of this Act most people do not even know about are that it heroically helps local law persons with sexual predators. Section 210 of the Patriot Act
