In the previous chapter; the scope and rationale for this study was highlighted and the objective, research questions and hypotheses based on the conceptual framework where put forward. In this chapter, effort is made to extensively review previous and related research work premised on the study variables namely – entrepreneurial education (predictor), and venture creation (criterion). The theories related to these variables are examined within the context of the organizational embeddedness baseline theory which views economic actions and activities as products of various social factors (Lee, Chang & Lim, 2005).
The development of the concept of organisational embeddedness can be traced to the fields of sociology and economics. The concept assesses economic actions or perceptions of restraint to such as actions as a result or consequence of various social related events and interactions. Embeddedness embodies the economic transactions and the outcomes of such as being relatively dependent on social interactions; it describes the success, failure or sustainability of economic and business activities as outcomes or outputs of a network of interactions much of which are socially based (Moody & White, 2003).
Organizational embeddedness can be examined within the basis of four dimensions namely – the structural, regulatory, normative, and cognitive embeddedness (Moran, 2005; Moody & White, 2003). These dimensions or factors, according to Moody and White, (2003) are capable of…
