Hitler 's first rule for media reports was that they couldn 't say anything bad about the games in their reports because it would make Germany look bad while they were trying to maintain a front. Every piece of media was screened by the Nazis before it could go to the public ensuring that every piece of work made the Nazis look better than they were. The Nazis also controlled most of the German media at the time of the Olympics so it wasn’t hard for them to control what was being said. They would only let German media outlets report on the games which meant it was basically the Nazis reporting on the games. So media reports of the games was basically just Nazi propaganda and controlled by Hitler and Goebbels, making a front for the Nazis that made them look progressive. There were also many variables that went into the games they needed Americans to perform well so that Americans would tune into to the Nazi propaganda and be interested. With the American public hooked on the games they watched Germany trump the Americans. With American athletes performing well it made citizens think that everything was going smoothly. While there was a vote if the games should be boycotted because of the Nazis and what they were doing. The international olympic committee said “The customs of other nations are not our business”. Meaning pretty much we are gonna let this slide as long as they don 't get out of hand with what they are doing and don 't try to push their ideals to far on the public watching the games. The Olympic committee was a helping force for the Nazis and them being able to push the machine that was the Nazi agenda along to the German public. They did have one condition though that the Germans conceal their hatred for the Jews and that they take down any signage that is anti semitic. Hitler also told the media that they can 't report of any attacks on the Jews in the newspaper during the games because if a visitor sees in then they will change their mind on the Germans. The Germans also had an elaborate parade at the end of the games planned to remind people one last time that they were behind this and that they were a strong and smart
