Literary analysis of “The Most Dangerous Game” Imagine being hunted by the best hunter in the world. In The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connel the theme is Murder. In the story Rainsford falls out if a boat and swims to a island meets general Zaroff, Rainsford finds out he is going to be hunted Zaroff dies from Rainsford. The theme of murder is showed by dialogue, events, and characters. First off dialogue helps explain the theme to the reader. It shows the reader facts that will reflect the theme. For example when Zaroff tells Rainsford he hunts humans it shows the theme. Zaroff tells Rainsford he is gonna be hunted and it shows theme of murder. Also when Rainsford and Zaroff talk it sets the mood. Also some opinions that help you understand the theme. When Zaroff talks it gives the reader chills. Zaroff is scary crazy character, who shows that the theme is murder by hunting humans. The story makes the reader want to help Rainsford. Secondly events in the story help show the theme of murder. When Zaroff hunts Rainsford is an event. First Zaroff is a Cossack which makes him a savage or uncontrollable. Second off Zaroff believes that the men he is killing are the lowest of the low. They bring him no challenge so he wants to hunt Rainsford for an actual challenge. Zaroff is short minded or only lets his thoughts go for a little bit and then drops them.
