The Libya Uprising

Decent Essays
Why did international forces, such as NATO intervene in Libya to depose Gaddafi? Foreign institutions interfered in Libya’s situation in order “to protect civilians” (Forte). During the uprising, Gaddafi used the country’s military forces against the civilian population. To prevent any more massacres in the civilian population, foreign troops had to intervene. Moreover, Libya has vast oil reserves and Gaddafi was not having good relationships with some Western countries at the time. Hence, these nations show their economic interests in Libya threatened.

Daniel Rasmussen’s book, American Uprising, is the untold story of the slave rebellions, and how the view of American society during this time shifted from prosperity to greed and turmoil. Slavery was a big part in the success of Louisiana’s German Coast where slaves accounted for more “75 percent of the total population”. Sugar was the cash crop that yielded high profits for plantation owners. Plantation owners justified the use of African slaves to work in the field because they can withstand the harsh environment of the German Coast. Rasmussen shares the uprising of the slave rebellion through two perspectives: African slaves and slave driver.…

When I was stationed in Iraq I learned that during the transition from one command to another there should be a time that policies and procedures should remain the same until they can be evaluated to see if they work or need to be revised to be more efficient in completing the mission. I believe that taking over a department having numerous policies and procedures has more of an advantage than that of one with very few. If I were to inherit a department, I would prefer to take over a department with policies and procedures that were numerous. By having numerous policies and procedures it may regulate the officers too much but after reviewing and revising the policies and procedures of the department. Overregulation can simply be eased by revising…

There were many responses to the Riots in August 2011 that started in Tottenham, London and spread across Britain over the following five days. One major response is the Troubled Families Programme (Home Office, 2011) which was rolled out in November 2011 having been proposed in 2010 by the coalition government as scaled up version of the previous Labour government's Family Intervention Project which aimed to target 120,000 troubled families in order to break the so called cycle of offending. According to Sim (2012), such responses led to the further disenfranchisement of working class families, increasing the distance between what Marxists term the 'haves and have-nots', which are the upper and upper-middle classes (the haves) and the lower,…
