Some states are already creating strict laws. Rhode Island has created a law that says 80% of packaging that businesses use must be recycled (In the Bin). I think that sets a good example for the other countries and we should have similar laws. The only measly law that Missouri has is “It is illegal to discard a motor vehicle battery of other lead-acid battery” (recycling Laws Map). This is a step in the right direction, but it still is not good enough. We need better and stricter laws, and we need to do a better job enforcing the law that we already have. California has one of the best laws regarding recycling. The state of California has created a law about commercial recycling. The law says, “A business that generates four cubic yards or more of commercial solid waste per week shall arrange for recycling services” (Mandatory Commercial Recycling). They decided to actually do something about and not just sit around, unlike a lot of other states.

Many people do not realize that the Union has a recycling center, but we do and it is a pretty nice one. The recycling center will pay you for your metal recyclables. They take many different varieties of metals including brass, copper, steel and much more. They even accept your old appliances. The center also has a drive-through bay, all you have to do is pop your trunk. They will unload, weigh and pay you and you do not even have to get out of your car (Save the Earth Get Paid).
