Commercial Recycling

Some states are already creating strict laws. Rhode Island has created a law that says 80% of packaging that businesses use must be recycled (In the Bin). I think that sets a good example for the other countries and we should have similar laws. The only measly law that Missouri has is “It is illegal to discard a motor vehicle battery of other lead-acid battery” (recycling Laws Map). This is a step in the right direction, but it still is not good enough. We need better and stricter laws, and we need to do a better job enforcing the law that we already have. Many people do not even know about the recycling centers, and we need to make sure they knew where they are and how to use them. For example, there are recycling bins behind almost all of the area schools and anybody can drop off their recyclables there, they are not only for the school, anybody can use them. We also need to get the word out about all of the area recycling centers, like the one in Union, or the ones in Washington. If more people knew about these places they might be more willing to drop off their recyclables there. In a world where everyone recycle; animals will be able to live without the fear of getting stuck in nets. People will no longer get sick from the air pollution in foreign countries. The water will be clear, and the highways will be litter free. This is all achievable if you take action. I want you to recycle. The next time you drink or eat something out of a plastic container and you are going to throw it away I want you to recycle it instead. That one bottle makes a huge difference, according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), “If you recycle 10 plastic bottles you will have saved enough energy to power a laptop for 25.4 hours.” Another thing I want you to do is put a recycling bin in your house, it can be as simple as an old box, and tell your family to use it. The final thing you can do is reduce the amount of waste you produce, and try to reuse as much as you can. If you can do this then we will be able to prevent a lot of waste from going into the landfills and we will save the planet. You can do it, it is not very hard, and i believe in you.
