Gun Control: Solutions from both sides
This is an informative article on the issues of gun control. The article will cover gun control advocates and gun rights advocates and their potential solutions to gun control. Who is right and who is wrong? Do they both have good ideas? Can we stop gun violence in America?
One of the biggest gun rights activists in this argument is Wayne LaPierre and the NRA. LaPierre is the CEO and Executive vice president of the National Rifle Association. He joined the NRA in 1978 and has been a strong proponent of gun rights. LaPierre and the NRA are opposed to new government regulations on firearms. They are opposed to universal background checks which they believe would lead to a government registry. (1) Gun rights advocates believe that would give the government the ability to confiscate those firearms. LaPierre and the NRA’s stance has always been that the Second Amendments right to bear arms should be unrestricted. Any restriction against the Second Amendment would be “government tyranny” (1) LaPierre goes on to say
"What people all over the country fear today, is being abandoned by their government. If a tornado hits, if a hurricane hits, if a riot occurs, that they 're going to be out there alone, and the only way they will protect themselves, in the cold, in the dark, when they are vulnerable, is with a firearm.". (1) LaPierre and the NRA have their own theories on solving the problems of gun violence and mass shootings in America.…
