Gun control is a debatable topic across many nations, and the argument that many make is that it is against our 2nd Amendment right: The right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Another right I believe it violates is our religious rights. Luke 22:37 reads, ““When I sent you without a purse, bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “No, not a thing.” He said to them, “But now the one who has a purse must take it, and likewise a bag. And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one. For I tell you, the scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered among the lawless’ ; and indeed what is written about me is being fulfilled (Penten).”” Thus, according to the constitution and the word of God, banning guns is not only against our constitutional rights, but also our religious rights. Gun massacres like the one at Virginia Tech and the Pulse nightclub are reasons why gun control needs to be implemented. Statistics show that the banishment of guns, actually caused the homicide rate to increase. According to the Mint News Press, homicide rates increased in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia after some sort of handgun or firearm banishment. Justin King from the Mint News Press states, that the United Kingdom’s homicide rates rose from the year 1990 at 13 homicides per million to 18 in 2003 and Ireland’s increased from 0.1 and 0.6 per 100,000 people to 1.6 per 100,000 after the ban.
