Domestic Violence is an issue that is becoming more common in our world today. Unfortunately, lots of men and women face being abused on a daily basis, and their reasoning behind staying is something that we cannot even begin to understand. Everyone’s situation is different, and the reasons for staying differ as well. People who have never experienced domestic violence think that people who stay in these abusive relationships are crazy for staying, and that they can just leave whenever they want. However, that is not the case. We should not judge people who stay in these relationships, because we do not know their situations entirely. Several resources have been developed to provide us information on this terrible issue, and to help us better understand why a person might stay in an abusive relationship. From way before the 1900s all the way to 2016, women have stayed in abusive relationships for a variety of different reasons. Some of the reasons consist of: the woman wanted her children to have their father in their life, she did not have another choice, she wanted to see if she could make the relationship work, and during the particular time period the woman just did not leave if she was being abused.
