There are various reasons that victims feel trapped or remain in an abusive relationship. “It is estimated that every nine seconds in the Unites States a woman is assaulted or abused (Qureshi 2013)”. It is important to know the warning signs of domestic violence and reach out for help if becoming involved in a relationship of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a very common and dangerous crime. It is one of the leading causes of death. There are resources out there to help victims of domestic violence and laws to protect the victims. The consequences of domestic violence can have long lasting impacts on the lives of everyone involved in the abuse.
