The Importance Of Trust In Cross-Functional Teams

Trust is defined as a reciprocal faith in others intention and behavior (Kreitner & Kinicki 2013). Trusts is very important for cross-functional teams because team members need to believe that they can count on others members on the team. Most of the times teams operate independently because managers are not able to be in multiple places at the same time.
Cross-functional teams have a diverse backgrounds and perspectives Trust can build by using the six guidelines for building and maintaining trust.
• Communication: team members should be informed about polices and decisions. Members should tell the truth about problems and limitations
• Support: team members should be available, approachable, provide help, advice and coaching
