Patrick Lencioni’s book Advantage is entirely different from many of his other books, which read like fables; therefore, his would be my only complaint against Advantage. However, as Lencioni alludes, this is the book he wished he had written first. Lencioni is convinced; and does an excellent job convincing his readers, that organizational health, not…

Rube Goldberg and Beyond The objective of this essay is to ask a question that you would like to answer as part of the scholarship application. My question is “What is an example of a creative approach you took to accomplish a project you were assigned?” As a high school physics student in my junior year, I was placed on a team and tasked with building a Rube Goldberg machine that could move an object 20 feet. I started the process by watching several YouTube videos that demonstrated the basics of a Rube Goldberg machine (i.e., balls rolling, random ramps, many moving parts, etc.)…

A common view of this is group projects. Students who work together on a project should not feel like they have to check up on one another. This trust needs to go both ways, student A, should be able to trust that student B gets their part done. Student B should do or feel the same towards student A. When both partners are able to feel like one another is able to get the project done, a bond of trust is born. They know that is will get done without the anxiety of worrying on the…

The definition of trust is having confidence in someone or something. Trust is something that I have earned at my CO-OP placement and am still earning as I go. The past couple of weeks at my placement have been great and the trust between me and my supervisor(s) have grown immensely which makes me unbelievably ecstatic. An example of trust between me and one of my supervisors is when she trusted me with her camera, although it is a small gesture it shows the trust we have built. Another example (from today) was when one of my supervisors trusted me with watching a group of 3 kids at Ripley’s Aquarium (CO-OP students do not run their own group) which shows that she trusts me very much.…

Ethical leadership behaviour fuels organizational trust, thus trust is an ethical equation (LeBlanc, 2014). In addition, trust is also often described as the glue which binds the leader to her/his followers and provides the capacity for organizational and leadership success (Mineo, L 2014). Just as leaders must trust employees to do the right thing, employees must also see and believe in the ethics of their leaders so as to trust them. Generally in any context, when a leader speaks it is important to be able to have confidence in the honesty, truthfulness, and sincerity of their words, this is the essence of trust (Mineo, L 2014). This paper will argue that trust is indeed very necessary for ethical leadership by showing that the main elements of trust (Integrity, Benevolence, ability) are in line with what constitutes ethical leadership as both often refers to the other‘s key concepts.…
