William Moraley tells the collective tale of an indentured servant of the early 1700’s as he was only thirty years old when the death of his father, a journeyman clockmaker led to him being imprisoned as he had low resources and was arrested for debt. Moraley would later service himself for five years as servant in the British North American colonies. William Moraley, The Infortunate: or, the Voyage and Adventures of William Moraley. Was written by Himself with the thought of telling his unfortunate tale that had occurred in his own personal life.
