Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are required in large quantities on a daily basis. The main reason we carbohydrates are because they are the main source of energy. The recommended daily allowance (RDA) for males is 2,500 and for females is 2000 the reason this is because males have more muscle and hormones than women 60% of that will go to you. There are two types of carbohydrates simple and complex. simple carbohydrates are broken down quickly to be used as energy on the other hand complex carbohydrates are made up of strung sugars which make it harder to break down and take longer to release energy. The benefits of taking a simple carbohydrate is that it goes into your bloodstream quicker and provides a quick burst of energy faster, the downside of taking it is that your blood glucose will constantly decrease and spike up. The benefits of taking a complex carbohydrate is that depending how much yopu take you will long lasting energy, the downside of taking a complex one is that at the start you may feel bloated at the start and uncomfortable
