Following the industrial revolution, the way people all over the country communicate has fundamentally changed. People no longer see communication as a luxury, such as the way telecommunication was viewed in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; instead we’ve come to a day in age in which a simple swipe of the thumb can spark a conversation that extends without boundaries, making us more connected now than ever before in history. Of course, there is always bad with the good. Cyber attacks and online crime rings are among the number one leading issues rising in the United States, as well as all over the world. It would only take one blast in the atmosphere for an entire continent to “go offline”. Seeing how much we, as a nation, have become more and more dependent on technology and media, we need to be on constant lookout for any indication of eminent danger. Re-gaining control of their department’s reputation is absolutely vital if there exists desire to leave these trying times for police officers. Not only would this use of social media provide a forum for various community members to share tips and ask questions, but also would this spread knowledge even faster than traditional methods, such as news casting or posting positions in newspapers. Needless to say that all of this would help minimize the effort and time taken by police to ensure total justice, allotting more time to focus on more pressing matters, such as life-or-death situations. The amount of benefits this path to success would reach is priceless, both literally and figuratively: because of the low cost, the same information that would have been obtained otherwise can be investigated further with the money
