The first assumptions is the learners need to know. Adults need to know why they are learning and what the meanings are behind learning the subjects. Adult learners are more inclined to invest their time and energy into the efforts once they know the benefits and objective. Engaging adults as collaborative partners for learning satisfies their need to know as well as appeals to their self-concept as independent learners (2015, p. 169). Currently working in higher education for allied health students, each learner is involved in the learning process. Knowing the expectations of their internships, grades, evaluations, and surveys. The students are more involved with their internship process due to the awareness of expectations while they are at their internship, how their grades will be accumulated, and how the format of evaluations and survey are constructed. Adult learners are more apt to understand the life situations and how to shape their eagerness to learn. The personal involvement my students have when applying their clinical skills with the patients shows the cognitive and feelings to learn that particular knowledge. They get a sense of discovery and can apply the initiation in learning new skills. When my students learn new ways to draw blood, different techniques for patient care, or how to perform patient vitals; their attitude and behavior changes. They satisfy their personal needs to know.
