The Holocaust was an attempted genocide of the Jewish people. The Nazi regime and its collaborators successfully murdered six million Jewish individuals. During the Holocaust the murder of the Jewish race was systematic and refined so much so that the Nazi regime had evoked a fear in the eyes of the world even though the world did not know the full extent of what was happening in the concentration camps. In many ways the full truth of what happened inside of concentration camps during the holocaust is still somewhat of a mystery to many people. In the book “Night” by Elie Wiesel some points about the holocaust are brought to light. For instance how he was found and taken, to some of the horrors that he was put through in the concentrations camps. Then what he and the people he had been locked up with did when they were finally freed from Buchenwald. In the holocaust there were many struggles that the Jewish people endured. There were also things that the people of Germany had to endure due to their leader and his greed and hatred. The beginning of the holocaust and how it was able to catch on in Germany, how Hitler became the head of the Nazi party and the things that he did, The holocaust began soon after the Nazis were brought in to power, which was in January of 1933. However Elie Wiesel and his family were not taken to the concentration camps until 1944. They were taken from their home in Sighet, Transylvania to a concentration camp in Aushwitz(Wiesel, ).
