Reducing the Jews to almost nothing. Caring nothing for their lives, safety, family, or hunger. The Jews were forced to be obedient toward the Nazis if they wanted any chance at all at surviving the holocaust.
At first the Jews didn’t listen to Moishe when he came to warn everyone about what the Nazis were doing. In fact they flat out ignored his warning and went on with their lives. But when the Nazis came they at first were friendly and only slept inside the homes of the civilians there. After a few days. Getting more and more hungry Elie and his father had to conserve their rations. Not down it all as soon as they got it. Being smart with their rations is one of the reasons they survived. The red army was about to arrive in Auschwitz and the Germans had to move the Jews because the Germans didn’t want to let the world know what they had been doing to these people in the camps. The Germans made the Jews run in the snow and if they stopped for a second they were shot without hesitation. Elie and his Father had went full sprint without stopping. After Eli, his father, and other Jews had made it to a town they had all decided to rest. Elie not knowing how tired he was until he had sat down was feeling tired and wanted to sleep but his father had forbidden so because those who sleep in the snow don't wake
