Imagine yourself at the land of the Pharaoh’s. Gazing up at the three most extravagant structures you’ve ever seen. So simple, yet so inspiring. Built about 5,000 years ago, nonetheless they are still recognized for their brilliant size and popularity. Have you guessed them yet? Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. The three Great Pyramids of Giza have fascinated historians and ordinary people for as long as we can remember. The process in which the Great Pyramids were built may be vague and even mysterious to some ordinary people, but it’s definitely been proven by Egyptologist. Yet throughout history people have been mislead by the media and books to believe false information regarding the Pyramids. So, that’s when I come in. As a professional Egyptian, …show more content…
Before we can dive into the ideas and innovation that such remarkable minds of the Egyptians created, we must understand exactly who these glorious minds are. The question; who built the Pyramids, has circulated for many years, even though we’ve had aforesaid information ever since the very creation of the Pyramids. First off, I’d like to make it clear that the builders of the pyramids were not slaves, nor were they from outer space. Now that that is out of the way, we’ve isolated our builders to normal workers. Mathematicians and Egyptologist estimate that the workers consisted of about 20,000-30,000 men. Also, thanks to doctors from the National Research Center, and the use of x-rays and DNA sampling, there is support that the builders of the Pyramids are Egyptian. …show more content…
At this point the Egyptians have already created many Pyramids, but not to the scale of the Great Pyramids. At first glance it’s clear to see what the Pyramids are constructed of...limestone. This limestone was brought from a place called Aswan, about 600 miles away. It was placed on rafts along the Nile river, and gently set afloat to Giza. As depicted in many Egyptian Temples, once the limestone was brought into Giza, they were cut and transported to the sight of the Pyramids. To move the large slabs, the stone was maneuvered on sleds, and the sand was dampened to help the stones slid with ease. With no real blueprints of the Pyramids, pure archaeology is used to best approximate how the stone was settled and crafted.
