To remember the lives of the Rwandan people who lost their lives during the months of April to July 1994, the proposal of a non profit organization for Rwandan survivors was created. The goal of the non profit organization is to bring peace and tranquility to survivors even after 20 years of the genocide. The audience which were American citizens were sought to help these survivors attain harmony by donating and gaining awareness of the genocide. To effectively portray the organization as a way of mourning, I used ethos, pathos, logos and tried to convince why the audience should donate. The main goal of the non profit organization is to raise awareness of the genocide and also to help survivors heal the psychological scars that are still …show more content…
I used ethos to become a credible source knowledgeable of the genocide because of my continuing research on the topic. During the presentation, I asked the potential board of directors if they knew what the Rwandan Genocide was about. As expected, only about three of them raised their hands, so I gave background information to the potential donors that didn’t know about the genocide. I presented the American audience with a website that explained the mission and objectives of the non profit organization so they could get a visual representation about what they were going to donate to. Since I was the founder of the organization, the audience assumed I was credible because of the certainty I had of my argument. I also told the audience that I would have known guest speakers who were in Rwanda in 1994 to talk about their …show more content…
One student asked about how Rwandans would be educated. I responded by stating that with the funds we would receive by them, we would construct schools in Rwanda and be partnered with a vocational school that would help us educate the youth. The questions of the audience made me question myself in how I would achieve the projects I was proposing. Still, at the end of my oral presentation, I also hoped that the non profit organization I was proposing would be successful in enticing the audience to join the board of directors and commemorate the genocide

After this painting was completed, a major massacre took place in Rwanda in 1995. An end to a genocide doesn’t simply mean an end to violence throughout the nation. There will still be people who want to hurt others and believe solely in their own beliefs and thoughts, as well as dead bodies that are down from gun shots and machete slashes. However, there are still people who want the killings gone and the peace present. Out of the billions of people in the world, only an extremely small percentage of them are causing the harm in Rwanda; the rest are bystanders, victims, or rescuers.…

Humanity’s past is filled with traumatic, violent events. Wars have been waged, bombs have been dropped, and innocent lives have been caught up in the crossfire. Each of these acts is terrible in their own right, but perhaps the most ruthless of them all are categorized under the term genocide. The systematic purging of an entire ethnic group or nation. Genocide does not simply take lives; its aim is to completely blot out a people’s history and future.…

In many areas, a pub is the central establishment of the community. In the video “Portland’s Non-Profit” edited by CBS News, reporter Luke Burbank recognizes an up and coming pub in Oregon with different tactics. Burbank interviews different customers with similar opinions on the pub. A non-profit organization is one that is dedicated to a particular cause, true, but I do not believe that any organization as such is solely non-profit for many reasons. For one many people think of the word profit in terms of just money which it is not.…

Elie Wiesel's (1958), Night book, paints a vivid picture of the horror and inhumane actions against the Jews and other minorities during the Holocaust. Elie provides an account of the horrific atrocities that were bestowed upon him, love ones and many others. Throughout the reading of the Night, the idea that people could inflict such demoralizing and horrific acts upon another human being became difficult to grasp. In the camp, the Jews are subject to beatings and repeated humiliations (Elie, 1958). Pondering on the notion that human genocides have been part of history and that this horrific part of history has repeated itself throughout the world several times frightens me.…

Assignment 3 One important aspect of the nonprofit world is the undeniable need for accounting and transparency of organizations. Prior to 1994, nonprofit organizations used fund accounting to represent balanced sheets. Fund accounting offered an overall picture of the organization’s finances in a complicated fragmented way, in other words it made reporting difficult and therefore seeing a clear picture of the organizations finances became very challenging (McLaughlin, 2010). On the other hand, according to McLaughlin (2010), the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) created the Statement of Financial Accounting Standards (SFAS) 117, whose main purpose was to make financial statements from nonprofit organizations readable and usable by stakeholders. Furthermore,…

Back in 1994, Rwanda faced its darker period of time in its history. A horrifying and historical genocide took place over three months on Rwandan soil. The horror and brutality of that act has been compared to what happened in Nazi Germany over World War II. About one million Rwandan people got literally exterminated by their countrymen because of their ethnic group given by Belgian colonizers over occupation (1916-1962). Nevertheless, that tragedy could have been lower and prevented if some countries would have intervened and did not think to their own interests first.…

The destructive effects of genocide impact the lives of its victims and survivors further than others often understand. During the Holocaust, the entire memory of the Jewish people’s cultural and religious values were intended to perish along with the collapse of their population. Today, we remember the lives of the Jewish people to honor their continued presence among us and to ensure that their culture overcomes the multi-generational desecration that the Holocaust caused. According to Dr. Michael Reid Trice, the Assistant Dean for Ecumenical and Interreligious Dialogue in the school of Theology and Ministry here at Seattle University, acts of genocide remain a threat to the existence of various ethnic and religious groups in today’s society.…
